The 2011 Enecks Reunion will be held October 15 at the homes of Nan Hill and David Cunningham outside of Brevard, NC. As usual, the feast will begin about 1 PM and the business meeting will follow. We invite everybody to come early and stay late to socialize. There are also things to see in beautiful downtown Brevard including Brevard College, the Transylvania County Library and a multitude of animal sculptures spread around the town in unexpected places. Of course you might be lucky enough to see one of our famous white squirrels. There is also a beautiful drive up Hwy 276 into Pisgah Forest. It will be the peak leaf-looking season so expect lots of color. We regret that we can't guarantee the weather; sometimes in mid-October it is still warm enough for a light jacket and other times you need a good coat!

THE MAIN THOUGHT IS THAT IT IS THE PRIME LEAF-LOOKING SEASON SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY!
There is also the Allison Family Reunion about the same time that draws several hundred people from around the world.

The easiest way to get to Brevard is from Asheville, NC on Hwy 280 or from Hendersonville, NC on Hwy 64. Either way will bring you to the motel area. All these motels are on Hwy 64 which will take you about half the way to our houses. Click map for larger view.

We suggest the following motels:

Hampton Inn, 275 Forest Gate Rd, Pisgah Forest, NC, (828) 883-4800
We have a block of 10 rooms set aside until September 15 for a group rate. All you have to do is say you are with the Enecks Reunion. They have an outdoor pool (it may be too cold for that), free hot breakfast and free WI-FI. Locating it is a little confusing because it is off Asheville Hwy (280) at the back of the Bi-Lo/Wal-Mart shopping center. You will see the sign and there is a Taco Bell near the entrance.
$125/night group rate, 3.8 miles from the center of Brevard.

Holiday Inn Express, 2228 Asheville Hwy, Brevard, NC, (828) 862-8900 They have a heated pool, free hot breakfast and WI-FI. It is about a mile nearer Brevard than the Hampton also on HWY 64.
$149 night or $135 with AAA card, 3.2 miles from the center of Brevard.

Rodeway Inn, 210 Asheville Hwy, Brevard NC, (828) 862-4200 Nearest to downtown Brevard also on Hwy 64 but downscale from the other two. They have an outdoor pool and free continental breakfast.
$109/night, 1.1 miles from the center of Brevard.

There are several smaller motels and inns in the area that you can find with Google Maps or MapQuest but these tend to be booked up early.

Directions to Motels:

From Asheville to Brevard on Hwy 280 (becomes Hwy 64W).
Just before the Hwy 276/64 intersection watch for signs for Wal-Mart, Bi-Lo and Taco Bell on right.
Turn into shopping center at the Taco Bell entrance and follow road around to the right to Hampton Inn.
To get to the Holiday Inn Express continue past the shopping center on 64W ½ mile or Rodeway Inn 2 miles.
From Hendersonville on 64 turn right to get to the Hampton Inn or left for the Holiday Inn Express, Rodeway Inn and downtown Brevard.

Directions to Hill and Cunningham Houses:

From Brevard: Drive 64 W towards Lake Toxaway and Cashiers about 10 miles from the center of Brevard to Frozen Creek Road on the left. You will see a large blue building (M&M Grading) off to the left where you turn.
Continue on Frozen Creek about 5 miles until it dead ends at Old Toxaway Road.
Turn right, pass The Wilds on your right and continue to the end of the blacktop.
Continue on to the gravel road to enter Round Mountain.
You will pass the mailboxes about .5 mile, and a pond about another .3 mile.
At Gaston Bee Gum Road turn left to go to the Hill's or turn right at the first driveway past to Cunningham's ("Les Bons Temps").
If going to the Hill's go down Gaston Bee Gum to Oconee Bell and turn right.
Their house is the first drive on the right ("Hard Aground"). Note: The road down to the Hill's is VERY steep and winding and you can't see cars approaching. Be careful! The road up to Cunningham's is much easier.
